As the Associate Menswear Designer - Knits you will provide innovative design creation for the active line at an intermediate level. You will work under the direction of the senior designer working within the cross-functional category team to create a line from concept to reality. As the Associate Designer you will be responsible for learning to apply basic fundamental concepts, theories, and principles in a professional discipline that is analytical and creative, in nature. You will develop conclusions and make recommendations on fairly routine tasks by following standard practices and prescribed methods. Initial guidance is provided and tasks are then carried out with moderate independence.
As the Men's Knits Designer you will provide innovative design creation for our lifestyle fashion line while working within the cross-functional team to create a line from concept to reality.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Utilizing design skills to create original, innovative designs that appropriately reflect Converse's design philosophy and standards
Producing presentation materials that effectively communicate the concept(s) behind the line
Working with design leadership and category team members to ensure feasibility of designs, meeting price point, merchandising needs and product creation timelines
Provide prototype sampling information and monitoring the development of prototype samples
Building awareness of current trends, color, technology and lifestyle related products through market research to keep abreast of consumer needs as well as future design direction
Specific Skills
The qualifications for the Men's Knits Designer will include, but are not limited to:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of 5 years product design experience
Experience working with a collection driven fashion lifestyle line
Proficient ability to apply and perform design skills including sketching, ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout
Understanding of pattern making, draping, materials, trims, garment fit/construction and manufacturing
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Good attention to details and deadlines
General ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and follow-through
Ability to use computer, copier, art and drafting tools
